Welcome to Amy Cavalier's portfolio!

I am a multifaceted communications professional with more than 20 years experience writing, editing, public relations, social media management and community building. A versatile and innovative multimedia producer, allow me to assist you in developing effective news, marketing, web and corporate communications.

My specialities include...

  • Writing, editing and photography
  • Communications and public relations services
  • Social media strategy, content planning and information management
  • Community advocacy, building and event planning
  • Radio, newspaper and video production

Among some of the highlights of my career...

  • As former leader of the Rochester Minimalists, I helped others explore their relationship with things, evaluate what brings value to their lives, reduce their environmental footprint, and question consumerism with monthly meetings, panel discussions and community education. Under my guidance, the Rochester Minimalists Facebook page doubled in growth and meetings saw upwards of 40 or more in attendance.
  • A founding administrator of the Beechwood/Homestead Heights/North Winton Village Buy Nothing community, I helped grow the Facebook group to nearly 1,000 members, recruited and trained new administrators, and created and served as administrator of an online support community for the admins of Monroe County's 30-plus hyper-local, gift-based economies.
  • I appeared on Investigation Discovery's On the Case with Paula Zahn, Someone You Thought You Knew, and served as an Investigative Assistant in the 2006 true crime novel Betrayal in Blood by author Michael Benson.
